Key West
A new flagship store for a Canada's leading sunglasses retailer, in the heart of Montreal's downtown
Following a major rebrand, Key West – Canada’s leading sunglasses retailer – approached GHA to design a new flagship store in downtown Montreal’s bustling St-Catherine Street.
GHA’s remit was to create a more cutting edge brand experience that would attract a younger market. Dispensing with the busy interiors of most sunglass stores, we created a bright, stripped-back, monochromatic interior.
We introduced innovative new techniques for the time, such as embedding storefront windows with micro-LED lighting to produce a sparkling affect, as well as an LED-backlit rear wall to promote large-format brand imagery. Sunglasses were displayed against a backlit wall casing, literally showing the product in its best light.
As Junior Designer on the project, my role was to support the design team with material and imagery research. I was also part of the initial brainstorming sessions which defined the overall concept.
